Manchester United Transfer News: Contact made for Real Madrid forward Joselu

After a big-money move for Rasmus Højlund, a lot was expected from the 21-year-old although Manchester United’s issues meant that the Danish international struggled to perform. However, the forward eventually found his footing and has since netted 13 goals in 31 appearances for the club. That does include seven in the Premier League and five in six Champions League appearances.

But with the club looking for more firepower, it has seen the Red Devils linked with a move for several other forwards with an aim at a summer move. That is especially in a season where Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Højlund and Scott McTominay are their joint top scorers in the league with 7 goals. It has many fans concerned for the future but reports have indicated that the club are already looking at other options.

Manchester United Transfer News: Red Devils make initial approach over a move for Joselu

According to Relevo, Manchester United have touched base with Real Madrid over a potential move for Joselu in the summer. The 34-year-old was a shock loan signing by the Los Blancos last summer as a stop-gap solution after Karim Benzema left for the Saudi Pro League. However, the Spaniard has made an impact with 13 goals in 36 appearances for the club this season.

That tally puts him behind only Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior as the club’s top scorer. It has attracted attention from other clubs although reports have indicated that Real Madrid are keen to activate the permanent purchase option worth €1.5 million. It’s why the Red Devils have touched base with the Los Blancos and not Espanyol as they believe Madrid would be open to a sale.

The 34-year-old is also keen on staying at Real Madrid and has already indicated his desire to sign a contract with the La Liga giants beyond his loan spell. But reports have indicated that Joselu would also be open to leaving for a bigger opportunity, which is something that Manchester United offers. The club are looking for an experienced back-up striker and believes that the 34-year-old fits that bill perfectly especially as he has previous experience in England.
