Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne doubtful for Bournemouth clash
De Bruyne a doubt for today
Manchester City could be without Kevin De Bruyne for their Premier League clash with Bournemouth today. According to reports, the Belgian might be sidelined from the trip to the Vitality Stadium as a precaution against fresh injury.
De Bruyne has endured a difficult campaign this season due to a recurring hamstring problem. He went off injured in their opening league game against Burnley and only returned last month after five months out.
Last weekend, he played full 90 minutes against Chelsea, but was an unused substitute in their Brentford clash on Tuesday. Though there are no reports of fresh injuries, De Bruyne trained alone on Thursday, when the rest of the squad had a day off.

This has raised uncertainty over his participation in today’s league encounter with Bournemouth. His head coach Pep Guardiola was reluctant to reveal too many details on his fitness, but said that he won’t take too many risks. Speaking at Friday’s press conference, the Spaniard said about De Bruyne:
“He’s good, not injured. I don’t know if he’s 100 per cent but we took good decisions not to take risks”
De Bruyne’s horrific season
It’s been a season to forget for De Bruyne, who missed a large chunk of it with a serious injury. The Belgian playmaker missed a total of 29 games in all competitions for City before finally returning in their Newcastle United win on 13 January 2024. He marked his return with a goal in their 3-2 victory.
