What will be the major challenges for PSG in the post-Mbappe era?
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has finished the season with a domestic double after winning the French Cup final against Lyon this Saturday. Team captain Kylian Mbappe brought his curtain down after seven years with the French giants and the squad will be bidding for another shot at the Champions League title, this time without the World Cup winner.
How will PSG manage without Kylian Mbappe?
During his seven-year spell with the French club, Mbappe has bagged 256 goals and helped the team secure 16 trophies, including six league trophies.
According to PSG manager Luis Enrique, several summer signings and the squad itself will have to step up after Kylian Mbappe’s imminent transfer to Real Madrid in the summer. The Spaniard claims that the off-season will be crucial in preparing his squad to live up to expectations in the upcoming season.
“How will we replace Mbappe? Four, five, six signings… Whatever we can do. Kylian’s replacement will be the team, which with the fans we have and the ambition this club has to win everything we will try in the coming seasons and we will see if we are capable of achieving it.
“It is a great challenge for any player who wants to come here. We want to make history.” This club sooner or later will win that long-awaited Champions League. Years may pass, but it will win the Champions League in the future without a doubt.”
The French giants look set to have a busy summer window as they are ready to spill the cash on several signings to fill the void left by the club’s record goalscorer, Kylian Mbappe. Mbappe has left the club as a free agent and will likely join Real Madrid in the summer.
