Liverpool fan loses out on life-changing money over one goal
A Liverpool fan betting on the Premier League as a part of Sky Bet’s ‘Super 6’ series lost out on life-changing money after Liverpool beat Brentford 2-0. Morris from Wolverhampton was on for a jackpot of £1 million till he cruelly fell short by a tiny margin.
He had correctly predicted the results of 5 Premier League games between Saturday and Sunday. He was spot on with the results of Manchester City 4-1 Ipswich Town, Spurs 4-0 Everton, Crystal Palace 0-2 West Ham, Aston Villa 0-2 Arsenal and Bournemouth 1-1 Newcastle. In the Bournemouth Newcastle game, he even survived a late goal that was ruled out by VAR.
So in the final game of the week, he needed Liverpool to win 3-0 to become a million pounds richer. And Liverpool looked well within the scope of doing that. Luis Diaz gave them the lead in the 13th minute and Mo Salah added on another in the 70th minute. The Reds came close multiple times, racking up 19 shots as well as a ridiculous 2.65 xG. But the third goal remained elusive for Liverpool and for Morris.
Sky did offer a payout of £6,000 for the 27-year-old, who had also correctly predicted the golden goal time. But that will be little respite for him, given what he was mighty close to reaching. Other fans on the internet called for Sky to pay up more. Some people claimed that he should get double that while some claimed he should get at least 100k.
