Manchester United has dealt with a big blow in the defence as Argentine player Lisandro Martinez left the pitch in tears. The defender had to be taken off on a stretcher during the Red Devils’ premier league fixture against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Martinez sustained the injury while he stretched to make a challenge on Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr in the 76th minute. The teammates looked upon him with concern as he was suffering from pain and received care for a long time on the sidelines. He received a compassionate round of applause from the crowd as he was taken away. This injury comes in as a huge blow for Ruben Amorim as Manchester United struggle to find their feet in the Premier League.

This will not be Martinez’s first big injury as in his first season at Old Trafford, the Argentine spent months off the pitch with a broken metatarsal.
