Lisandro Martinez Injury: Argentine defender will return to action for Manchester United on this date
Lisandro Martinez is set to return this month
Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez could return from injury on 30 March against Brentford, according to The Athletic’s Dan Sheldon and Laurie Whitwell. The Argentinian has been nursing a knee injury since 4 February this year but is now set to make a comeback.
It’s been a difficult campaign for Martinez, who missed nearly four months earlier into the season with a foot injury. He missed 22 games in all competitions. Now, he’s been sidelined from another six games since succumbing to his knee injury, and will miss one more – their FA Cup quarter-final clash with Liverpool on Sunday.

Such fitness issues have limited him to just eight appearances in the Premier League this season. However, the news of his return is definitely a boost for Erik ten Hag’s side, who’ve kept only three clean sheets in their last 10 games.
Lisandro Martinez joined United from Ajax in 2022 for £57 million on a five-year deal and enjoyed a great first season. He was a fixture in Ten Hag’s XI, playing 45 times in all competitions last season and became an important member in their defensive structure.
Manchester United reeling from a raft of injuries
At the moment, Manchester United are going through an injury crisis, with Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw also out. Mason Mount has returned to training, but Ten Hag will be cautious against throwing him at the deep end. Besides, Rasmus Hojlmund, Tyrell Malacia, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are all doubtful for the Liverpool encounter too.
