Ajax looking to bring back old boss Erik ten Hag from Manchester United

Ajax want their old gaffer back

In a stunning development coming out of Amsterdam, Ajax are looking to bring Erik ten Hag back to the club. Football Insider revealed the bombshell news earlier today as the Dutchman’s future at Manchester United is under question.

The Red Devils have failed to build on the highs of last season, when Ten Hag guided them to the Carabao Cup trophy and the FA Cup finals, while also securing Champions League football. It was a successful first season at Old Trafford for him, and more was expected to follow in this campaign.

United, though, have flattered to deceive. With 47 points from 28 games in the Premier League, they are down in sixth position and out of contention for European football. They also went out in the group stages of the Champions League and in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

All this has brought Ten Hag’s position under threat, but Ajax are offering him a lifeline. De Godenzonen are ready to bring their former manager back to Amsterdam and are planning to officially approach him for the job. That’s because Ajax themselves have struggled to adapt to life without him.

Since winning the Dutch Eredivisie title in his final season, Ajax have declined dramatically. They conceded their crown in limp fashion last year with a third-place finish, and currently sit in sixth position on the league table. The club believes that bringing him back could revive their fortunes.

More developments can be expected in the summer, depending on how United finish their season

Erik ten Hag built a reputation as an astute manager at Ajax, where he won six trophies in five years, including three in the Eredivisie. Most notably, he guided them to the Champions League semi-finals in the 2018-19 season as De Godenzonen conquered some big along the way, such as Real Madrid and Juventus to etch their names in history books. His return will obviously be met with ecstasy by the Ajax faithful.
