Leicester City closes in on signing talented Italian defender Caleb Okoli from Atalanta BC: Reports

A while back ‘Sports Mole’ reported that Premier League club Leicester City holds significant interest in signing Atalanta BC’s talented Italian defender Caleb Okoli. Now, it seems like things are moving forward for the Foxes regarding a potential deal for the 22-year-old player.

As per ‘Leicester Mercury’, the club is now closing in on a deal for Caleb Okoli. The report also signifies that the transfer fee that might be involved may hover close to £13 million. As per a recent report from ‘OneFootball‘, Okoli is now set to undergo a medical at Leicester City on July 6, Saturday and is pretty much set to join the Foxes ahead of the 2024-25 Premier League season.

Caleb Okoli spent the previous Seria A campaign on loan at Frosinone from parent club Atalanta BC. He played a decent chunk of 34 games for Frosinone throughout the last Seria A campaign, in a season marked by a relegation battle for them.

Leicester City already has decent center-backs with Premier League experience in their ranks. So, Okoli might find it tough to break into the playing eleven straight away. But he can provide Steve Cooper a viable option on the bench competing for the defensive place with the ranks of Conor Coady and Wout Faes. Caleb Okoli has also represented Italy’s under-21, under-20, and under-19 sides so far in his career.
