Laser pointed at Kevin De Bruyne during Euro 2024 clash with Ukraine
The Manchester City ace almost responded with a goal…
Belgium star Kevin De Bruyne was targeted by a laser during their clash with Ukraine at UEFA Euro 2024. The Manchester City star was gearing up to take a free-kick when someone flashed a laser on his face, an incident which the referee then reported to third officials.
It’s unclear who did it, but De Bruyne was visibly irked by it, and nearly responded to it with a goal. Instead of crossing his free-kick for his teammates, who waited inside the box, the midfield ace went directly at goal but it hit the side-netting, narrowly missing the target.
As things stand, Belgium are currently progressing into the knockout stages as Group E runners-up, setting up a fiery last-16 encounter with France. However, the Red Devils still have over 20 minutes to beat Ukraine and claim first position, as Romania are currently drawing with Slovakia.
Belgium have underperformed at Euro 2024
Despite the array of talents in the squad, Belgium have not performed to their best at the Euro 2024 so far. It all began with a shock 1-0 loss to Slovakia, before redeeming themselves with a 2-0 win over Romania, although Domenico Tedesco’s side had to really strain every sinew for that. Now in their final group fixture against Ukraine, the Red Devils have failed to score after 72 minutes of action.
