Kylian Mbappe to receive €125m signing bonus after joining Real Madrid
The 25-year-old French superstar announced his departure from PSG in a video posted on social media platform X on May 10. Mbappe has been linked with Madrid over the past three seasons and the worst-kept secret in football is finally out.
The World Cup winner left PSG where he won six Ligue 1 titles in seven seasons and four French cups, finishing his PSG career as the club’s all-time goalscorer with 256 goals. Mbappe won the World Cup with France in 2018.
He said: “A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dreams, Real Madrid.
“Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. Hala Madrid!”
The former PSG striker will become the club’s highest-paid player, with an estimated earning of €15 million to €20 million per year.
He will also receive a €125m signing bonus spread over five years of his contract and will keep 80% of his image rights. Mbappe will now join the French national side for their upcoming European Championship campaign and will attempt to inspire the nation to their third European Championship trophy in Germany this summer.
Kylian Mbappe left out of France’s preliminary Olympics squad
Thierry Henry, France U-23 manager, announced the 25-man provisional squad for the upcoming Paris Olympics on June 23 but Real Madrid signing Kylian Mbappe has been left out of the squad.
“I am not closing the door on hope, we don’t know what will happen. But I must present a realistic list. The list is open to everyone,” Henry told reporters.
This is the current list, and it can change until July 3,” he added. “Clubs have the power to say yes or no.”
Real Madrid in no way would allow Mbappe to join the French Olympics squad after participating in the European Championships in Germany.
