‘Here We Go’ – Jose Mourinho set to become new Fenerbahçe head coach
Despite being sacked in January by AS Roma, Jose Mourinho has struggled to find his next job with few clubs open to appointing the Portuguese legend. However, with Chelsea and Manchester United on the search for new bosses, reports indicated that Mourinho could make his way back to England. Yet that hasn’t materialized yet as both clubs are going in another direction.
That hasn’t stopped the rumour mill as Mourinho has been heavily linked with a move to several European bigwigs including Bayern Munich before they appointed Vincent Kompany. But the situation has now changed as Fabrizio Romano reported that Fenerbahçe were in talks. That seemed unlikely given Mourinho’s caliber but reports indicated that the 61-year-old was closing in on a move.
Mourinho to sign two-year contract as new Fenerbahçe head coach
That has now been confirmed by Romano as he has reported that Mourinho and the Turkish giants have reached a verbal agreement early on Friday. The reporter has now revealed that the 61-year-old is set to sign as the new Fenerbahçe head coach and will sign a two year deal. The Turkish side finished second in the Turkish Super Lig last season despite losing just once.
Not only that, they managed to record 99 points but still lost out on the league title to rivals Galatasaray which saw head coach Ismail Kartal leave the club. Sky Sports has further reported that Mourinho is set to replace Kartal and that his contract has the option to extend it by a further year.
