Japan and Australia played out a low-scoring 1-1 draw in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday. Shogo Taniguchi struck an own goal for the Socceroos after 58 minutes to put them in front, but interestingly, Australian defender Cameron Burgess put the ball into his own net another 18 minutes later to make it 1-1 for the Samurai Blues.
