Inter President Marotta Rules Out Two Signings and Updates on Buchanan’s Injury
Inter Milan’s President Beppe Marotta has provided crucial updates regarding the club’s transfer plans and the injury status of key player Tajon Buchanan.
Speaking ahead of the Serie A 2024/25 fixture announcement Marotta shared some important news that will shape the Nerazzurri’s upcoming season.
Buchanan’s Successful Surgery
Inter’s right wing-back Tajon Buchanan recently underwent surgery for a fractured tibia. The injury occurred during his international duty with Canada and he is expected to be sidelined for over four months.
Marotta confirmed the operation was a success providing a glimmer of hope for the player’s recovery.
“We are sorry because he’s a young lad, but we have information that the surgery was successful,” Marotta stated, as reported by Gazzetta. “We’ll see what to do, but the team remains highly competitive.”
Despite Buchanan’s extended absence Marotta assured fans that Inter is not actively seeking a replacement at this time.
No Moves for Alonso or Gudmundsson
Addressing transfer rumours Marotta ruled out potential signings of Marcos Alonso and Albert Gudmundsson. Speculation had linked these players with Inter but Marotta made it clear they are not on the club’s radar.
“I’ve read many names, including those of Marcos Alonso and Gudmundsson, but I rule them out today. Our team is already strong,” he emphasized.
This stance contrasts with Genoa President Alberto Zangrillo’s claim that Inter was interested in Gudmundsson on a loan deal with an option to buy. Marotta’s statement shuts down these rumours and reflects Inter’s confidence in their current squad.
Lautaro Martinez to Stay and New Faces
In more positive news for Inter fans Lautaro Martinez is set to stay with the club and sign a new contract after his return from Copa America. Marotta praised Martinez’s qualities and leadership, ensuring his continued presence in the team.
“We are happy that Lautaro will stay and that he’s our leader. He has great human qualities and he will wear the Nerazzurri shirt for a few more years,” Marotta concluded.
Additionally, Genoa keeper Josep Martinez is undergoing a medical with Inter potentially adding more depth to the squad as they prepare for the new season.
Upcoming Fixtures
Inter’s first Serie A game of the 2024-25 season will be against Genoa at the Stadio Ferraris. Fans are also eagerly anticipating the first Derby della Madonnina of the season with Inter facing off against AC Milan on Matchday 5.
These fixtures along with the updates provided by Marotta set the stage for an exciting and competitive season ahead for Inter Milan.
