Brighton has completed the signing of Mats Wieffer from Feyenoord

The 24-year-old Dutch midfielder has completed his move to Premier League giants Brighton & Hove Albion on a five-year contract. Mats Wieffer came through the FC Twente academy and joined Feyenoord in the summer of 2022.

Wieffer has established himself as one of the highly-touted defensive midfielders in Europe and was pivotal for Feyenoord in their title-winning campaign in the 2022/233 season. In over two seasons with the Dutch giants, the midfielder has scored nine goals and contributed 11 assists in 79 games.

The Seagulls reportedly paid a fee in the north of 30m euros (£25.4m) for Mats Wieffer.

He will be Brighton’s second signing of the summer after Yankuba Minteh’s transfer from Newcastle United.
