Harry Kane sends message to Bayern Munich fans after Champions League heartbreak

After Bayern Munich’s semi-final knock, Harry Kane opens up about his “gutted” feeling, with the Champions League semi-final loss against Real Madrid.

The Back Story

Real Madrid made it to yet another Champions League final with a late brace from Joselu, at the expense of Bayern Munich with a 4-3 aggregate win on Wednesday night. At one point, Alphonso Davis’s weak foot belter felt enough to take Bayern through to Wembley, until Real decided to have the last say. The England skipper revealed he was “proud “ of his teammates for putting up a competitive fight long after the final whistle at the Santiago Bernabeu, and also said there is a long way to go in the future.

Harry Kane sends message to Bayern fans

His tweet post were as follows: “Gutted. Last night was tough to take. Proud of how we battled over the two legs which says everything you need to know about the spirit of this team and how far we can go. #MiaSanMia.”
Mia San Mia is Bayern’s famous motto and translates to, “We are who we are.”

The broader perspective
Kane moved to Bayern for £82 million ($100m) from Tottenham last summer, and in no time made an instant impact registering 44 goals in 45 games in all competitions. However, on a shocking note, Bayern failed to grab any form of silverware for the first time since 2011/12. At the end of the season, Thomas Tuchel departs leaving the Bavarians in search of a replacement. Despite such factors, the 30-year-old feels Bayern are on the right track and if not for the last-minute mishap, they probably would have made it.

The follow-up plan
Bayern and Harry Kane, sit in second place in the Bundesliga 15 points behind champions Bayer Leverkusen. On Sunday they host Wolfsburg hoping to hold on to their two-point lead over Stuttgart, while for the curtain closer Hoffenheim are in their sights on May 18th.
