Green Light for Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt

Manchester United are close to signing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna. The Red Devils have agreed personal terms with the Dutch striker and are in talks with the Serie A side.

As per a report in The Athletic by David Ornstein, Zirkzee has a €40 million release clause in his contract. Manchester United are now exploring if they should activate the clause or agree a deal with Bologna.

The 23-year-old has been their main target this summer despite signing Rasmus Hojlund for £64 million last summer. They are keen on getting the Dutchman as the replacement for Anthony Martial, who left the club after his contract expired last month. Zirkzee scored 11 goals and assisted 5 times in the Serie A last season. He was a key part in helping Bologna qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United are also working on a deal to sign Zirkzee’s national teammate, Matthijs de Ligt. The Red Devils have got the green signal from the defender and are now in talks with Bayern Munich.
