Impact on Atalanta and Italy
This injury is a significant blow for both Atalanta and the Italian national team. Scamacca had an impressive debut season with Atalanta after joining from West Ham United in 2023.
He scored 19 goals and provided eight assists thus, helping his team secure a fourth-place finish in Serie A and win the Europa League.
Scamacca also played a crucial role for Italy in the Euro 2024 by appearing in all four of their games and helping the team reach the round of 16.
His absence will be felt as Atalanta prepares to face Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup on August 14 followed by the start of their Serie A campaign against Lecce.
As the medical team prepares for his surgery at Villa Stuart fans and teammates alike are hoping for a successful recovery for Scamacca. However, with the severity of his injuries the possibility of missing the entire season is a real concern.
