Bayern Munich to Start Bundesliga Without Leroy Sane; Harry Kane Set to Return

Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich will be without star attacker Leroy Sane for the start of the upcoming Bundesliga season, Sky Germany has reported.

Sane faced a pressing groin injury towards the end of last season and during Euro 2024. However, he chose to forgo surgery to represent Germany in the continental tournament.

The 28-year-old has now undergone successful groin surgery to address the issue. Given this situation, Bayern Munich has decided to keep Sane on the sidelines for the opening few fixtures to allow him ample time to recover. This decision underscores their commitment to ensuring his long-term fitness.

Meanwhile, talismanic striker Harry Kane is anticipated to return to Munich next week. The England captain, who has been dealing with his injury issues, is said to have fully recovered after a prolonged holiday. Kane is now expected to feature in Bayern’s second pre-season friendly against his former team, Tottenham Hotspur on August 10.

Eberl Addresses Matthijs de Ligt’s Future Amid United Interest

On the other hand, Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has addressed the speculation surrounding Matthijs de Ligt’s future as the defender remains a target for Manchester United.

Eberl told Sky Sports Germany regarding the Dutch international. “I will comment on the reasons when the time comes. It is not yet that time. Matthijs played very well here for two years and that is why many fans like him. Nevertheless, you have to think about how you decide and also how the boy feels. He is still a player for FC Bayern. And as long as he is, he will get all the support from us.”

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag confirmed last month that the club is interested in De Ligt. “We still have to wait and see whether De Ligt will come,” he said to Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.
