Getafe 1-1 FC Barcelona Player Ratings – Getafe stuns Barcelona in a thrilling encounter

Getafe took everyone by surprise by holding Barcelona to a 1-1 draw thanks to goals from Arambarri and Kounde. It was a disappointing night for the Catalonians, who failed to close the gap between their rivals as they are five points away from the top, provisionally. Another crucial result for Getafe puts them just one point above the relegation zone.

The Catalan giants took a deserved 1-0 lead on nine minutes as Kounde bundled home from close range after Pedri found the full-back roaming across the Getafe backline unopposed. Barcelona were in complete control and had the dream start, but they somehow let the home side back into the contest. Barca failed to clear their lines efficiently, and Alena chipped a ball into the box from the right-hand side that was met heartily on the volley by the right boot of Costa. Pena pushed it away with his left palm, but only into the path of Arambarri who accepted the gift and levelled the score. Barcelona have squandered a few of their opportunities to extend their lead and will rue the Raphinha chance as well as the Lewandowski header across goal.

Getafe grew into the game, pressing the visitors well and creating dangerous counter-attacks. Despite Barcelona trying to claw back a goal, the hosts held their ground and made sure to not give up the lead. While there were penalty attempts, missed chances and many more, it was ultimately a disappointing night for the visitors who went home with just a point.
