Pezzella sustained a minor muscle injury in the month of May while playing for Real Betis. Argentina may need to find a replacement if he is unable to recover in time for the Copa America 2024. Potential candidates to take his place are Lucas Martínez Quarta and Leonardo Balerdi.
The Argentina national team is currently training in Miami as they prepare for their upcoming matches against Ecuador and Guatemala, respectively.
