Fantasy Premier League expert advises managers to sell Kieran Trippier

With the Premier League kicking off, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) enthusiasts are back in action. With standout performances from stars like Mohamed Salah, Bukayo Saka, and Pedro Porro, the season has already sparked excitement among FPL players.

As game week two approaches, an FPL expert has suggested that FPL managers should consider selling one of the highly-owned players in their squads. Andy, from the popular Let’s Talk FPL TikTok account, has urged managers to part ways with Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier.

In his latest video, Andy said, “Trippier has to go. He’s £6 million, and you can’t even be sure when he’s going to start,”

Trippier’s Declining Value in Fantasy Premier League

Currently, Trippier is owned by 12% of FPL managers, making him the 11th most-owned defender in the game. With around 11 million people participating in FPL each year, this translates to over a million managers having the Newcastle defender in their teams. However, Trippier disappointed in Newcastle’s season opener against Southampton at St James’ Park, earning zero points as an unused substitute. Instead, youngsters Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento were preferred in the fullback positions.

Trippier’s high ownership is likely due to his strong performances in the past two seasons, where he scored over 100 points each season, thanks to his ability to contribute goals and assists while being part of one of the league’s best defences.

For those looking to replace Trippier, Andy recommends considering Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson or Virgil van Dijk, as well as Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol. They are all valued at £6 million.

Newcastle’s next match is against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, but it remains uncertain whether Trippier will start, despite playing in an Under-21 match against Sunderland on Monday. Given the doubts surrounding his playing time, many FPL managers may consider Andy’s advice and look for more reliable options in defence.
