Fofana to leave Chelsea as Leicester City Leads Chase
Leicester City are emerging as the front-runner in the pursuit of Chelsea forward David Datro Fofana who is expected to depart Stamford Bridge on loan this summer.
The 21-year-old Ivorian has struggled to find his footing with last season’s loan spells at Union Berlin and Burnley proving less than fruitful. Despite a promising stint at Burnley where he netted four goals in ten Premier League starts Fofana couldn’t prevent their relegation.
Leicester’s interest comes in the wake of Kelechi Iheanacho’s departure to Sevilla making Fofana an appealing option for the Foxes.
Reports suggest a loan deal with a potential obligation-to-buy clause could be on the table. While Leicester are leading the charge competition remains from Bundesliga side Stuttgart and La Liga’s Villarreal both of whom are keen to secure Fofana’s services.
Chelsea meanwhile are keen to offload Fofana along with other surplus forwards to make room for a new striker.
