Slot told ESPN: “The only thing I can say about it is that the clubs are in negotiations – and then you sit in the waiting room and wait for what will come out. It seems clear to me that I would like to go to Liverpool,” he said. “Now I am waiting to see whether the clubs reach an agreement. I have every confidence in that.”
Slot added: “The clubs have to do their job and then I am waiting, and as the ‘main character’ I have to respect that. It will undoubtedly become clear in the coming days. It’s no secret that I want to go to Liverpool.”
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk believes Arne slot would be perfectly suited for Liverpool’s job
The Dutchman believes Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has the credentials and correct technical approach to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. Slot has emerged as the potential candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool at the end of this campaign.
The 45-year-old manager has the opportunity to make the step up from the Eredivisie to the Premier League and his fellow countryman Van Dijk has backed him for the coaching role.
He told ViaPlay: “I think Slot is one of the better Dutch coaches at the moment. With the way he plays and the philosophy he has, he can be a Liverpool coach. But I read and heard that it is far from complete. We shall see. We will focus on that next season, but that is still a long way off.”
