Everton 0-0 Brentford: Player Ratings as Mark Flekken Shines in Stalemate
Brentford have finally managed to get a point away from home after a hard-fought draw at Everton. The London side were down to 10-men in the first half but still managed to keep their shape and frustrate the home side.
Everton had 3 times the efforts on goal as Brentford today, but had half the number of big chances as their opponents. Both sides were keen on the three points, but also did not want to drop a point – making it a rather cagey match from start to end.
Here are the Everton vs Brentford player ratings:
Everton player ratings vs Brentford
Goalkeeper
Jordan Pickford – 7: Had to make just two saves today but they were crucial as it got his team a much-needed point.
Defenders
Ashley Young -8: Rolled back years and managed to pull out a brilliant performance today. He was almost playing like a right winger today more than a right-back.
James Tarkowski – 8.5: One of the best players on the pitch today, if not the best. He was rock solid at the back and hardly out a foot wrong in the entire match.
Jarrad Branthwaite – 8: The youngster is time and again showing why he is a target for the top clubs in the country. He was always in position to defend the counters and also made his way to the other half to recover the ball high on the pitch.
Vitaliy Mykolenko – 8: Similar to Ashley Young today as he played more like a left-winger and spent most of the time in the final third of the pitch.
Midfielders
Abdoulaye Doucouré – 6: Rather poor today as he was neither getting on the ball not getting into attacking positions to score. All over the pitch, but ineffective.
Idrissa Gueye – 8: One of the best outfielders today on the pitch for Everton. He was ready to drive forward and shoot, while coming close on multiple occasions.
Jesper Lindstrøm – 6.5: Never looked like he was going to threaten the Brentford goal. Managed to get tow shots away, but none on target.
Dwight McNeil – 7.5: Kept going until the end but never looked like he was going to score. He was also creating chances, but the end product was missing from him and his teammates.
Iliman Ndiaye – 8: The Everton man has surprised a lot of fans this season and he was solid once again today. All his shots were blocked today, but he will be confident of getting better next match.
Forwards
Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 7: Kept trying but just not enough to beat Mark Flekken in goal. Five shots today, but only two were on target.

Brentford player ratings vs Everton
Goalkeeper
Mark Flekken – 9: Man of the match today and without any doubt. He made some excellent saves and was always commanding his box from the start to the end.
Defenders
Sepp van den Berg – 7: The defender left Liverpool in the summer to prove his worth, and he is doing exactly that. Was solid at the back and never put a foot wrong.
Nathan Collins – 7.5: The Brentford star was on top of his game today and never gave the opponents a chance to shoot near him. He was on their toes and breathing down their necks at all times.
Ethan Pinnock – 8: Another Brentford star who was one of the main reasons for them keeping a clean sheet and getting a point from the match. He kept his cool even after they went down to 10 men.
Keane Lewis-Potter – 7.5: Mostly isolated but he was there when needed. The defender was up and down the left flank today and kept getting into the right positions.
Midfielders
Mathias Jensen – 7: All over the pitch today but mostly decided to stay back and defend after Nørgaard was sent off. Even had two attempts at goal but never got it on target.
Christian Nørgaard – 4: He will say it was unlucky to get sent off, but that was a deserved red. Unnecessarily high boot, and it caught Pickford on his knee.
Vitaly Janelt – 7: Stayed back and defended today after Nørgaard got sent off. Never looked out of position and was always on the toes of the Everton players.
Forwards
Bryan Mbeumo – 6: Failed to get a single shot away today and hardly got on the ball. Was in the right position, but either got marked out or not found by his teammates.
Yoane Wissa – 6: Played just over 70 minutes but hardly got on the ball. Managed to get a couple of shots away but only one was on target.
Mikkel Damsgaard – 7: Best of the attackers today though he did not get a shot on target. He was the one who was trying things today and without him, they were never making anything happen upfront.
