Erling Haaland transfer: Three clubs the Manchester City star could join
Erling Haaland has stated that he is happy at Manchester City, but several clubs are still interested in signing him. The striker has been in fine form, and clubs are aware that their goal-scoring issues will be sold with the Norwegian star leading their attack.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester City’s clash against Copenhagen, Haaland stated that he was not thinking of leaving Etihad. The striker claims that he is surrounded by the right people and said:
“I’m really happy. Especially with the people that I’m surrounded with; the manager, the directors, the board, they are a group of amazing people and I’m really happy, I have to say. If I say this now it’s probably going to be a massive headline, tomorrow you never know what the future brings, but I’m happy.”
He added:
“You can write this but you also have to write everything I said before. I’m happy. My focus mainly now is on the pitch. There’s a lot of games. Two days ago was the Manchester derby, now Champions League, Sunday is Liverpool, I think I should focus on that. I don’t think I should focus on anything else at the moment.”
However, there are sides that suit the striker more and could be the next step in his career. Without further ado, here are three sides who could make a move for the Norwegian soon:
Real Madrid – Erling Haaland to link with Vinicius Jr?
Real Madrid are looking to build a strong team and are looking to add a striker this summer. Kylian Mbappe has been linked with the Blancos but the free transfer is not yet confirmed.
Florentino Perez has always tried to sign the best players at the club and will be looking to add the Manchester City star, too. Reports suggest they are keen on getting the Norwegian star even if they land Mbappe.
Manchester City are likely to demand a world-record fee, and that will be easy for Real Madrid to pay as they are easily one of the best-run clubs in the world.
Barcelona – Erling Haaland transfers to Camp Nou and replaces Robert Lewandowski?
Robert Lewandowski is in the twilight of his career, and reports suggest he has an offer from Saudi Arabia and MLS. The Polish star will need to be replaced at Barcelona, and Erling Haaland would be the ideal star to take that position.
With rumors of Kylian Mbappe moving to Real Madrid, the Catalan side will be looking to match that move to go toe-to-toe. Haaland is the next best option from the Frenchman in world football right now, and Joan Laporta will be hoping that his financial team fixes the crisis soon and help them land the Manchester City star.
La Liga president Javier Tebas has already stated that he would like to see the Norwegian star play against Mbappe but it looks unlikely because of the financial condition. He told El Chiringuito in 2023:
“I hope that’s the case. But these two players could only come to Real Madrid right now because Barcelona’s financial situation as of today does not permit Barcelona to reach these types of players. Many things would have to change financially at Barcelona for them to be able to go for these players next season, so many things that I would consider it impossible.”
Getting Haaland to match up against Mbappe in La Liga would be the closest thing they can do to replicating the magic we previously saw when Lionel Messi went up against Cristiano Ronaldo.

PSG – Erling Haaland to Parc Des Princes?
PSG are bound to lose Kylian Mbappe this summer, and they will be in the market for a striker. Who better to go for than Erling Haaland?
The Manchester City star was full of praise for Mbappe earlier this season, and PSG will be aware that there are no better options for them than Haaland. The former Borussia Dortmund striker said:
“He’s so fast, so strong. And he’s been doing it for so many years when he’s what? 2 years older than me? It’s crazy. Sometimes you have to say to yourself that. He has 10 years left at the top level. He is phenomenal.”
Mbappe will be a huge miss for PSG, and they have all the resources to spend big to replace the Frenchman. Moreover, they are one of the two sides in Europe who can match the wages he reportedly gets per week at Manchester City.
As per a report in Forbes, the striker gets approximately £865,000 per week at Etihad. Those wages are almost half of what Mbappe currently draws at Parc des Princes, which means they can easily afford to offer the Norwegian star and still manage to lower their wage bill, while also getting the best replacement for their star man.
