Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka names Cristiano Ronaldo as his idol
With Arsenal keeping up in the race for the Premier League title, the Gunners’ form since the turn of the year has been nothing short of extraordinary. The North Londoners have won every league game since January while scoring 31 goals across all competitions. That includes their latest 6-0 win over Sheffield United which has kept the gap between them and first place Liverpool at two points.
And while their young stars continue to shine, Bukayo Saka has lead the charge with the Englishman missing just one league game this season. Not only that, Saka has contributed to 23 goals in the Premier League alone, with that tally rising to 31 across all competitions. It has many wondering just how high the 22-year-old can climb, with many believing the forward to be a future superstar.

“He’s special” – Bukayo Saka on Cristiano Ronaldo
However, despite those claims, Saka himself has refuted claims of him being a superstar especially as he admitted that his idol used to be Cristiano Ronaldo. The Englishman praised the former Manchester United star and doesn’t believe that he can replicate Ronaldo’s longevity. The now 39-year-old is renowned for his fitness and the fact that despite being nearly 40, he hasn’t slowed down.
While he did struggle during his second spell at Manchester United, a move to Saudi Arabia has seen Ronaldo thrive with the forward doing well for Al-Nassr. Saka went on to reveal that he has a lot of respect for the forward and claims that he is special for what he has done in football.
“Personally I can’t (imagine playing for as long as Ronaldo), and that’s why I have so much respect for him. Obviously when I was younger, he was my idol, but now that I’m playing football professionally, I have even more respect for him, how he’s managed to stay this disciplined and this focused and achieve everything he’s achieved, so yeah he’s special,” Saka told the Men in Blazers podcast.
