Erik ten Hag Reveals Club Missed Out on the Superstar Signing in the Last Summer
Erik ten Hag enlisted the player Man United missed out on last summer’s transfer window
Erik ten Hag firmly platted his opinion regarding his Premier League club Man United in a recent interview with Gary Neville for ‘Sky Sports’. The Dutch manager hinted that United did miss out on signing a proven Premier League striker in the summer transfer window of 2023. But, didn’t lucidly reflect the name of the player, until Gary Neville specified him as Harry Kane.
Talking about the experience of Harry Kane and citing how things are different and can’t be compared between the former Tottenham Hotspur striker and Rasmus Hojlund, the Red Devils manager asserted – “you have to accept that you get talent instead of already the players who have already proved it in the past”. “I would never say compare two players because they are very different”. Erik ten Hag was also pretty certain of the fact that Hojlund brings an enormous amount of potential to his team.
Talking about the Danish striker the 54-year-old insisted – “with Rasmus Hojlund I think we get the highest potential in the striker position”. It can be inferred from the statements of the United boss that although he is disappointed in missing out on Harry Kane, he seems willing and determined to progress into the future with Rasmus Hojlund.
Has Rasmus Hojlund shown enough to prove that he is the man for Man United?
Rasmus Hojlund joined Man United in August 2023. He has a contract with the club that runs till June 2028. In his first season at the Red Devils, the Danish striker has taken some time to grow into the thick of things but slowly and gradually managed to find his feat and deliver on the expectations of the fans to an extent.
In his 26 appearances for the Premier League club this season, Hojlund has eight goals and two assists to his name. In the UEFA Champions League, the 21-year-old was performing consistently until his side was knocked out of the competition. Rasmus Hojlund scored four goals in his five outings for the Red Devils in the prestigious European competition.
Overall in his 38 matches for Man United since joining, Hojlund has 14 goals and two assists to his name including all the domestic competitions as well. But, the question still arises of whether in the next top-flight season of 2024-2025, the Danish forward will be able to enhance these numbers and take it a level higher to grant United the fight for bigger things. On the early look of things, it seems like there’s a player in there and he could be the answer to the clubs’ striker problems leading up to the future.
