Eintracht Frankfurt 3-3 Bayern Munich: Player ratings Omar Marmoush pegs Bayern back at the death

Eintracht Frankfurt held Bayern Munich to a 3-3 draw in the Bundesliga on Sunday. Omar Marmoush struck the equalizer in the 94th minute to grab a point for the high-flying Eagles, who fought back twice in the game. Kim Min-jae opened the scoring for the Bavarians after only 15 minutes, but quickfire goals from Marmoush and Hugo Ekitike turned the match on its head soon after. However, a goal from Dayot Upamecano meant there was another twist in the tale before the break.

Early into the second half, Michael Olise restored Bayern’s lead, and it seemed like Vincent Kompany’s side are heading to a win, but Marmoush came back to haunt them in the dying embers, making it 3-3. Here are the player ratings for Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich:

Goalkeeper

Kaua Santos – 7

With a staggering 10 saves, it’s safe to say that Santos was the hero for Frankfurt tonight. Sure, he conceded thrice too, but without his interventions, the game could’ve gone in a completely different direction.

Defenders

Rasmus Kristensen – 7

The Dane was all eyes on Bayern forwards and never hesitated to throw his body on the line. He made eight clearances and five tackles, while also winning seven of his 14 ground duels.

Tuta – 7

The Brazilian made 10 clearances on the night, demonstrating tremendous vision and positional awareness, while also backing it up with a further four interceptions.

Robin Koch – 6.5

He complimented Koch well in defense as the centre-back pair had great communication among them.

Arthur Theate – 6.5

With Bayern’s forwards putting a lot of pressure, Theate couldn’t run forward much but made up for that with a solid showing in defense.

Midfielders

Ansgar Knauff – 7

He played a brilliantly weighted through ball for Marmoush to score the equalizer.

Ellyes Skhiri – 5

Considering his minimal involvement in the first half, lacking the pace, and not attempting to defend hard enough off the ball, Skhiri was taken off at the break.

Hugo Larsson – 6

He didn’t offer much resistance defensively and looked hesitant to get forward too.

Fares Chaibi – 6.5

The 21-year-old made eight clearances and three interceptions, a testament to his defending on the night.

Forwards

Hugo Ekitike – 8

He scored to make it 2-1 for Frankfurt in the 35th minute with a clinical strike.

Omar Marmoush – 9

Frankfurt’s man of the match, Marmoush brought Frankfurt level, first in the 22nd minute, and then again in the 94th minute to snatch a point.

Substitutes

Mahmoud Dahoud – 6.5

He threw his weight behind in their defense.

Junior Dina Ebimbe – 6

He couldn’t see much of the ball, but competed hard to impede movements, and looked strong aerially too.

Mario Gotze – 5

A forgetful reunion with his former side for Gotze tonight.

Jean-Matteo Bahoya – 5

Barely visible during the 15 minutes that he was on the pitch for.

Can Uzun – 5.5

Uzun had very little time but good passing accuracy.

Manager

Dino Toppmoller – 7

He has turned Frankfurt into a menacing outfit, as their performance showed once again tonight. Title or no title, Toppmoller has made the Eagles an entertaining side, making their games worth looking forward to.

Goalkeeper

Manuel Neuer – 6

The sweeper-keeper was visibly below his best today, as it seemed like he hadn’t recovered from his horrible mistake away to Aston Villa in the Champions League a few days ago.

Defenders

Raphael Guerreiro – 7.5

With six key passes laid, the former Borussia Dortmund star was a creative inspiration for his side tonight.

Dayot Upamecano – 7.5

The Frenchman looked shaky at the back early on but got back into his element soon. He even scored a goal at the other end to make it 2-2 for his side.

Min-Jae Kim – 7.5

Upamecano wasn’t the only defender on target today, as Kim scored a goal too, firing Bayern in front by smashing home a corner in the 15th minute.

Alphonso Davies – 7

The Canadian international was a force of nature on the right, adding plenty of firepower to Bayern’s attacking vanguard with his ingenuity and industry. He even laid three key passes and one cross.

Midfielders

Joshua Kimmich – 8

A vital cog in Bayern’s juggernaut as always, Kimmich ran the show with his incredible distribution, completing over 120 passes. He also laid eight crosses on the night and two key passes too.

Aleksandar Pavlovic – 7.5

Like Kimmich, he too was key to running the show for Bayern in midfield. Pavlovic completed 117 passes at an accuracy of 97% and even attempted two shots at goal, although both were off-target.

Forwards

Michael Olise – 8

Michael Olise continued his fine run of form with another goal here, one that completed Bayern’s turnaround in the game.

Thomas Muller – 7.5

The Raumdeuter was at his usual best, using his spatial intelligence to find gaps in Frankfurt’s defense and lay off for the forwards. He assisted the opening goal too.

Serge Gnabry – 7

A menacing presence on the flanks for Bayern, feeding central players with his impeccable crosses, while also looking to regain possession when on the defensive.

Harry Kane – 7.5

No goals for the English starman but he did bag an assist for Olise’s goal.

Substitutes

Kingsley Coman – 6.5

He attempted two shots, both of which were saved.

Mathys Tel – 6

He could barely get on the ball and lacked the pace to cope with the intensity of the match too.

Eric Dier – 5

Bayern aimed to close out the game with this substitution but ended up conceding nonetheless.

Konrad Laimer – N/A

A complete non-factor; totally invisible.

Joao Palhinha – N/A

The Portuguese came on to merely see the game off.

Manager

Vincent Kompany – 6

Having started off brightly, Kompany’s tenure is slowly looking shaky. First, the shock loss to Aston Villa in the Champions League, and now a draw here. Alarm bells haven’t gone off in Munich yet, but it’s time the Belgian considers beefing up their defense.
