Deportiva Minera vs Real Madrid Player Ratings: Los Blancos ease past Minera into the Round of 16

An excellent team effort from Real Madrid gave them an easy win against Minera courtesy of a 5-0 win. Minera from the fourth division, who reached the round of 32 for the first time proved no match for the Madrid giants. Real Madrid went youthful at the back as the entire back four was from Castilla. If there was any clash that screamed David vs Goliath, it was this. Valverde struck early to make sure any upset was off the menu tonight. The home crowd was jumping even though they conceded goals as they simply wanted to enjoy the occasion.

Real Madrid started the game with all the ball. It didn’t take long for them to open the scoring too. Endrick forced a fine save from Martinez but it was Valverde who got the first goal. After Minera made a mess of Diaz’s cross, the Uruguayan scored with ease. Camavinga doubled the lead shortly as he turned Fran Garcia’s delivery home. Minera then had a shot from their own half that failed to test Lunin.

Los Blancos threatened to increase their lead but Martinez proved equal to the task. Arda Guler then did the inevitable as his deflected shot wrong-footed the goalkeeper. The third goal killed the contest as it was near impossible for the hosts to even score one.

Both sides made changes at half-time. Real Madrid more so since they travel to Saudi Arabia soon. But the manager of Real Madrid gave some minutes to the big guns Mbappe, Vinicius and Bellingham to the delight of the crowd. Martinez continued his barrage of saves after the kickoff.

Luka Modric found a way to sneak one past the keeper to cap off a fine performance for him. With an eye on the game in Saudi Arabia this weekend, Ancelotti made the changes as the game dropped in intensity. Guler made it a five star performance as he tapped Garcia’s cross home. There was no consolation goal for the crowd as they left empty handed.

Real Madrid eased past Minerva after Vinicius starred. The fourth-division side stood no chance against the might of the Champions League holders. Real Madrid are in action against Mallorca this weekend in Supercopa de Espana. Minera take on Cadiz II in the fourth division on Sunday. Their dream run at the Copa del Rey finally ends.

Goalkeeper

Francisco Martinez: 7/10- Denied Endrick twice early on in the game but his poor pass led to the first goal. Made a lot of key saves despite conceding so many goals. If not for his saves, it could’ve been cricket scores perhaps.

Defenders

Jose Mas: 5.5/10- Was given a torrid time by Diaz on the left as he not played played out wide but also drifted central to test the opposition.

Juan Montesinos: 5.5/10- Made a hash of the clearance leading to Madrid’s goal. Wasn’t able to recover again and was hauled off at half time.

Fran Molina: 5/10- Overwhelmed by the star quality of the Madrid side. Couldn’t get near Endrick at times as the teenager was running away from him.

Juanmi Herdero: 5/10- Fouled Aguado as he ran past him. The entire backline of the team was rattled given Madrid’s fast start.

Midfielders

Omar Perdomo: 6/10- Had an ambitious shot from his own half as he saw Lunin off the line. The effort just flew above the crossbar to his disappointment.

Javier Vera: 5/10- Made an error that directly led to a goal for Real Madrid. Undertands how costly one mistake could be against top teams.

Cristhian Britos: 6.5/10- The captain spent a lot of time defending alongside the centre-backs. He would not be against this one if the switch to defender every happens.

Damian Petcoff: 6/10- A bit reckless with the challenges and he has shown his aggression on the pitch tonight. Could’ve been easily avoidable.

Pipo: 5.5/10- The winger was on the periphery of the game for most parts and couldn’t make an impact at all.

Attacker

Ferron Ruiz: 5/10- An absolutely no show performance from the striker. His team needed an outlet to relieve the pressure but it wasn’t possible fro him to present himself. Couldnt even get a shot away against aggressive Madrid defending.

Substitutions

Diego Sheffield: 6/10

Sandji Baradji: 7/10

Domingo Pujante: 6/10

Sergio Cortado: 6/10

Raul Sanchis: N/A

Manager

Popi: 5/10- His side gave their all but the might of Real Madrid was simply too much for his players to deal with. The gulf in class was well evident. The coach would focus on the league fixtures and search for promotion instead of pondering too much about this game.

Goalkeeper

Andriy Lunin: 6.5/10- Was nearly embarrassed as the shot from Pedromo flew just wide of the target. Only made a serious save in the second half.

Defenders

Lorenzo Aguado: 7/10- Complemented his fullback partner with some dangerous runs past the opposition defence. Didn’t continue doing it for long though.

Raul Asencio: 7/10- The highly rated youngster rarely put a foot wrong as he dealt with the pressure of the opposition forwards well.

Diego Aguado: 7/10- Had a lot of time on the ball to pick his passes as Minera offered no press. Was comfortable like a seasoned pro early in his career.

Francisco Garcia: 8/10- Had a sensational game as he enjoyed attacking Minera’s right-hand side. His work rate after a cross was cleared to win the ball back earned him an assist.

Midfielders

Federico Valverde: 8.5/10- Opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. The usual hard worker didn’t have to work that hard tonight as Madrid called the shots. Was replaced at half-time to protect his legs.

Eduardo Camavinga: 8.5/10- A relentless display putting in so many tackles and then entering the box to head his first goal of the game.

Luka Modric: 8/10- Was a class above everyone on the field with his experience and guile. Added a goal to his tally with a speculative finish that found the bottom corner.

Attackers

Arda Guler: 9/10- Was expected to miss the game but did end up starting it. Scored the third goal after a deflection wrong-footed Martinex. Created plenty of openings with his running. Notched up his second after tapping a Fran Garcia’s cross home.

Endrick: 7/10- After scoring on his league and European debut he was desperate to score on his cup debut too. The Brazilian however missed composure as he wasted a lot of chances.

Brahim Diaz: 6.5/10- The winger played a bit conservatively as the left-wing was lit up by Fran Garcia. He had a great chance to score the 5th of the game. Martinez read his moments and failed to get dummies even after two attempts.

Substitutes

Dani Ceballos: 6/10

Lucas Vazquez: 6/10

Chema Andres: 6/10

Kylian Mbappe: 7/10

Vinicius Jr: 6.5/10

Manager

Carlo Ancelotti: /10- The manager rotated knowing that the opponent won’t be strong enough to challenge his side. His faith was repaid by the young unit as goals from midfielders secured the win. He managed minutes perfectly too as he gave the superstars to the crowd for their enjoyment.
