Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammate makes fun of Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr after Spain-Brazil contest
Spanish defender and Cristiano Ronaldo’s teammate at Al-Nassr Aymeric Laporte has been caught in controversy for his tweet on Real Madrid and Brazilian attacker Vinicius Jr. The two players crossed paths in a friendly contest on Tuesday (Mar 26) when Spain hosted Brazil with both teams representing their nationals in opposite dugouts. Vinicius was handed the captain’s armband for the first time in his international career in a friendly organised under the slogan ‘One Skin, One Identity’ to combat racism in football.
Vinicius Jr Trolled
Laporte played the entire ninety minutes but was unable to help Spain win the match as it ended 3-3. The former Manchester City defender is teammates with Portuguese sensation Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr. But a contentious moment from a corner sparked conversation among football supporters.
Before a corner was delivered, Vinicius approached Laporte and, apparently without warning, gave him a nudge in the back. The Spaniard responded with another push. Following the match, a post on X (via @Llourinho) included a video of the altercation and quotes from the Real Madrid star’s pre-match news conference were surfacing on the internet.
“I just want to play football,” were the remarks made by Vinicius in the build-up to the match on the racism issue.

The incident did not go well with the fans on the internet as Laporte was trolled for the incident on social media. For Vinicius, he will continue to fight and stay strong as Real Madrid and Brazil have an important couple of months.
Real will face Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinal while they also have Barcelona to face in La Liga. The two matches will be decisive considering they can still win the treble. Vinicius will have a big role to play for the Los Blancos. Real are next in action on the weekend when they face Athletic Bilbao at home where Vinicius will be seen in action.
On the other hand, Brazil will be targeting their 10th Copa America this summer when they travel to the USA. They are one of the favourites to win the tournament alongside world champions Spain and Uruguay.
