However, the Copa America 2024 quarterfinals will not feature any extra time if the winner remains undecided during the initial 90 minutes plus the injury time of the match. The match will directly head to the proceedings of a penalty shootout and it will ultimately decide the winner. The same pattern will be followed for all four quarterfinal matches, two semifinals, and the third-place fixture. In this regard, the Copa America 2024 does differ from other major international tournaments.
But, the final of the tournament which is due to be played on July 15 will witness the norm of extra time being followed before going into the penalties, in case the need arises. The second quarterfinal of the tournament will be played between Venezuela and Canada on July 6, whereas the third and fourth ones will be played between Colombia and Panama, and Uruguay and Brazil on July 6 and July 7 respectively (dates are as per GMT timing schedule).
