Chelsea 2-1 West Ham Player Ratings: Pedro Neto makes the difference off the bench for the Blues

Chelsea have done it the hard way but have come away with all three points against West Ham United. The Blues have moved back into the top 4 and are now 2 points clear of Newcastle United and Manchester City, who sit 5th and 6th.

Jarrod Bowen gave West Ham the lead right before the halftime whistle after a mistake from Levi Colwill. The Chelsea defender’s pass was under-hit, and the Hammers star slotted it past Jorgensen.

Enzo Maresca made four quick changes before the hour mark and that saw Neto scoring just 4 minutes after coming on. Cole Palmer then kept going for the win and his effort was deflected into the goal by Wan-Bissaka. Here are Chelsea vs West Ham player ratings.

Goalkeeper

Filip Jorgensen – 7: Replaced Robert Sanchez in goal today and did well. He could have done little for the goal conceded in the first half, but overall, he was better than the Spaniard.

Defenders

Reece James – 6.5: The Chelsea captain was not at his best today. Got taken off at the hour mark right after he picked up a booking.

Tosin Adarabioyo – 5.5: He was caught napping for the first goal and then played Munoz onside for the second. His worst game under Amorim so far.

Levi Colwill – 5: Another poor display from the youngster. Made the mistake that led to West Ham’s goal in the first half and was having a tough time dealing with Kudus.

Marc Cucurella – 7.5: He was upfront most of the time and spent a lot of time inside the West Ham box. Played a crucial role in the first two goals scored by Chelsea.

Midfielders

Enzo Fernandez – 7: He was all over the pitch today and ready to help out in every way possible. Linked well with Madueke and Palmer.

Moises Caicedo – 6.5: Rather quiet game for the midfielder. He was more involved in keeping the possession than interceptions today.

Noni Madueke – 6.5: He was trying way too hard today and just could not get a lot of things right in the final third. He came close to scoring the opening goal but his shot was just off target.

Cole Palmer – 7.5: The Chelsea star was relentless and was desperate to get them all three points today. His attempt saw them get the second goal, thanks to a massive deflection.

Jadon Sancho – 6: He was not at his best today and could not do much. Was taken off before the hour mark after an ineffective performance.

Forwards

Nicolas Jackson – 5.5: He was struggling and the hamstring issue only made it worse. He was hooked off swiftly after the second half kicked off.

Substitutes

Pedro Neto – 8

Marc Guiu – 7.5

Malo Gusto – 6

Christopher Nkunku – 7

Trevoh Chalobah – 6

Manager

Enzo Maresca – 8.5: He got everything right today. The quick thinking in making the 4 subs before the hour mark changed the game in his favor.

Mohammed Kudus

Goalkeeper

Alphonse Areola – 7: The goalkeeper made 3 saves today but there was very little he could do about the goals. Got nutmegged from a tight angle first and then the deflection looped it over him.

Defenders

Vladimir Coufal – 6.5: He handled Sancho well and never let the Manchester United loanee wriggle through. He was doing well but was taken off as soon as Nkunku started getting past him.

Max Kilman – 7: He was handling Jackson well and then did well to keep Guiu in check. Easily the best defender from the West Ham team.

Aaron Cresswell – 6.5: The left-back played as LCB today and did well against Madueke and Palmer. However, Neto and Guiu gave him a tough time.

Midfielders

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6: He was unfortunate with the own goal, but did well against Sancho. Could not do much against Palmer and he paid the price.

Tomas Soucek – 7: He was the best player for West Ham in the midfield today. Made it hard for Enzo and Caicedo, but did not get any help.

Andy Irving – 6: He was doing well but had to go off injured. He was all over the pitch and got into the right position a lot of times.

Emerson – 6.5: Hen usually does well against his former club but not today. Missing in the 71 minutes on the pitch as he hardly got involved.

Forwards

Mohammed Kudus – 4.5: He was troubling Colwill but nothing significant on the ball. Missed chances and did not get involved a lot in the game.

Carlos Soler – 5: He was just jogging around all the time and did not do much in the game.

Jarrod Bowen – 7.5: He made the most of his chance and scored the opening goal. He too was not involved a lot, especially in the second half.

Substitutes

Oliver Scarles – 6

Konstantinos Mavropanos – 6

Lewis Orford – 5

Danny Ings – 6

Luis Guilherme – 5

Manager

Graham Potter – 7: A good setup but the quick decisions from Enzo Maresca caught him off guard.
