Chelsea send scout to monitor Viktor Gyokeres during Sweden’s friendly against Portugal
Chelsea scouts were in the stands to watch Viktor Gyokeres in action against Portugal during Sweden’s international friendly on Thursday. This is the third time in the last three months that the Blues have scouted the player.
A striker by trade, Viktor Gyokeres played 70 minutes of their clash against the Selecao and scored one for the Blagult in the 58th minute although the visitors eventually lost 5-2 in Guimaraes to a vastly superior opposition.

As for Gyokeres, the 25-year-old has garnered attention from top European sides this season for his blistering scoring exploits with Sporting CP. In 39 games, he’s struck 36 times, including 22 goals in the Primeira Liga, more than anyone in the league right now.
This has certainly generated interest from Chelsea, who’ve struggled once again this season. With 39 points from 27 games, the Blues are down in 11th position of the Premier League table after winning just 11 times all campaign.
Gyokeres has come under their radar as a potential acquisition for the club as it seeks to revamp its squad in the summer.
Viktor Gyokeres could be Chelsea’s new goalscoring talisman
It’s no secret that Chelsea have a history of disappointing strikers post Didier Drogba. In the ongoing campaign too, Nicolas Jackson, signed on a £32 million transfer from Villarreal last summer, has failed to live up to the hype. He’s struck only nine times from 24 games in the Premier League. It’s easy to see why Viktor Gyokeres, then, is being closely scouted. The Swede has shown a devastating run of form in front of goal for Sporting CP this season, making him an attractive prospect for the Blues.
