Chelsea legend Thiago Silva could take up management role in the future
Chelsea legend Thiago Silva is set to leave the club this summer
Brazilian legend Thiago Silva could take up management in the future as his wife Belle shared a video of him taking coaching lessons at home. The 39-year-old defender is set to leave Chelsea this summer and return to Brazil with Fluminese, where he began his career, having already signed a two-year contract.
In the now viral clip shared online, and retweeted by Chelsea’s Uruguay page, Silva can be seen absorbed in his coaching studies, working on a white coaching board with various colored pins on it. The captions of the video read:
“In the future, I think we already know what place Thiago Silva would occupy at Chelsea [wide eye emoji]”
It obviously referred to Silva possibly taking up the coaching role at Chelsea some point in future, a prospect that cannot be ruled out. Frank Lampard was the most recent example of a former Blues star becoming their permanent manager, with the midfield legend managing the side from July 2019 to January 2021.
Silva joined Chelsea in 2020 from PSG and quickly established himself as a regular in their XI. He played a key role in their Champions League victory in his first year, followed by the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. He is set to make his final appearance for Chelsea on Sunday against Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Chelsea looking to end with five consecutive wins
For the most part of the Premier League this season, Chelsea had struggled for consistency, and it cost them a lot. But lately, there’s been a resurgence of sorts in their form. The Blues have won their last four league games, and will be looking to close their campaign with a fifth in a row. It may not enough to secure them European football, as Tottenham Hotspur, who sit three points clear of them on the table, are likely to beat bottom-dwellers Sheffield United. However, this strong win could lay the foundations for a better run next season.
