Chelsea gets a positive update on Cole Palmer injury

Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer has withdrawn from the Three Lions squad for the Nations League after being there only for a day. He has become the latest Chelsea player to withdraw from international duty, following Wesley Fofana and Malo Gusto.

The former Manchester City academy graduate has started this campaign on a high, having already registered one goal and four assists from Chelsea’s opening three games of the new campaign. Without any doubt, Palmer was named in Lee Carsley’s England squad for the upcoming international fixtures against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

Palmer has featured in all of Chelsea’s five games in all competitions and has now officially returned to Cobham to continue his rehabilitation on his ongoing injury troubles.

Should fans be worried about Cole Palmer’s new injury?

Cole Palmer was voted Chelsea’s Player of the Season and PFA Young Player of the Year following his breakout campaign with the West London giants. The 22-year-old attacker bagged 22 goals and 11 assists in the Premier League, with only Erling Haaland netting more than the former Man City forward.

However, the attacker pulled out of England’s squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures due to a reported groin injury. Both the player and Chelsea don’t want to risk his ongoing issue and he has now returned to Cobham.

According to reports, Palmer’s groin issue is a precaution from the club and he is expected to be available for Chelsea’s next match at home to Bournemouth on 14 September. If the 22-year-old misses the next 2-3 games for the club, Chelsea would have several options to replace him.
