“Sell him”: Chelsea fans unleash massive flood of trolls on Marc Guiu after horrendous miss
Chelsea began its journey towards UEFA Europa Conference League qualification with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Swiss side Servette. Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring from the penalty spot five minutes after the restart. Noni Madueke doubled the lead 26 minutes later to hand the Blues their first win of the season. Enzo Maresca will be a little concerned about his team’s finishing, which included one unforgettable miss from Marc Guiu.
Enzo Maresca rotated his side heavily for this European encounter and gave the youngsters minutes. Marc Guiu was one of those who benefitted from this decision. Chelsea’s high press led Servette to lose the ball near its goal which gifted the 18-year-old with an open goal to just tap the ball in. Instead, he opted to delay his shot which ultimately never went in. The whole of Stamford Bridge was in utter disbelief at the moment which has already been labelled as the ‘miss of the season’.

Marc Guiu was a big signing for Chelsea this summer. The striker is a graduate of the renowned academy of FC Barcelona, La Masia. Consequently, high hopes have been placed on the Spaniard to come good and become a key part of the project of Chelsea. His failure to find the back of the net against Servette from that position, though, has created skepticism in the minds of the supporters.
Marc Guiu falls prey to ruthless trolling from fans
It did not take much time for the miss to become the most trending and talked about topic amongst the football community. The majority of the initial reactions revolved around bewilderment. Gradually, the rival and neutral fans were quick to hop on the train of taking a dig at Chelsea for their ‘ridiculous’ transfer policy and labelled Marc Guiu as a guaranteed flop.
Chelsea fans, on the other hand, were disappointed with the lack of composure displayed by Marc Guiu. The young striker had displayed flashes of brilliance and potential during the pre-season games which naturally increased the expectations from him. Guiu will need to put the failure behind him now to focus on the upcoming objectives and ensure his Chelsea career is a triumphant one.
