Chelsea could miss out on Victor Osimhen transfer
Premier League giants Chelsea, under the new leadership of Enzo Maresca have not given up on Victor Osimhen despite strong interest from Ligue 1 stalwarts Paris Saint-Germain. The Napoli striker is expected to leave the Italian giants this summer as confirmed by the club’s higher authority.
Napoli have set a €130m price tag on the 25-year-old striker, who has been heavily linked with Chelsea following Napoli’s interest in signing Romelu Lukaku on a permanent transfer. The Italian side are reluctant to let Osimhen leave for anything less than his set release clause.
Chelsea has the opportunity to use Lukaku as leverage to sanction a deal for Osimhen and to bring the price down in a potential swap deal. But the forward has been heavily linked with a move to France following PSG’s strong interest after the departure of Kylian Mbappe.
Will Chelsea miss out on Victor Osimhen transfer this summer?
The Blues have been heavily linked with a centre-forward this summer after Nicolas Jackson struggled up front on several occasions last season. Chelsea are aware that PSG have no shortage of funds as Kylian Mbappe is now off their wage bill.
PSG are in dire need of a striker following Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid and are currently leading the race for Victor Osimhen according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
“So, the situation is that PSG are advancing in talks with the player, he’s open to joining PSG. PSG want to negotiate but we know it’s never easy with Napoli. For sure, the priority for Osimhen is to leave Napoli and this is the intention. PSG are on it, in case Osimhen leaves Napoli will surely go for Romelu Lukaku as his replacement,” Fabrizio Romano has said.
Chelsea will need to act swiftly or face missing out on a proven goalscorer this summer.
