Chelsea Injury News: Carney Chukwuemeka ruled out for Aston Villa clash
Carney Chukwuemeka ruled out again
Chelsea forward Carney Chukwuemeka has been ruled out of their Premier League clash with Aston Villa this Saturday. The 20-year-old is reportedly struggling with a knee injury that he sustained at the start of the season.
It’s been an injury-riddled campaign for Chukwuemeka, who has missed a staggering 33 matches this season on account of fitness concerns, particularly the knee injury. Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino has now revealed that Chukwuemeka is facing issues once again because of that, and ruled him out of tomorrow’s clash at the Villa Park.
Speaking to the press, Pochettino said:
“Carney felt something in his knee, related to his problem before. We hope it’s not a big issue and he can be back as soon as possible.”
Besides Chukwuemeka, Raheem Sterling is another player who will miss the Villa clash. The England international suffered a pain in his lower back, whereas Enzo Fernandez has been ruled out for the remainder of their campaign after undergoing surgery in the groin.
Chelsea looking to recover from Arsenal thrashing
Chelsea were crushed 5-0 by Arsenal in their last Premier League clash as their defense was ruthlessly exposed at the Emirates. A brace each from Ben White and Kai Havertz, coupled with an early opener from Leandro Trossard, mauled the hapless Blues, who were knocked out of the FA Cup just days earlier by Manchester City. The defeat left them in ninth position, but with two games in hand, as Pochettino is running out of time to secure European football.
