Caleb Wiley Joins Chelsea for £8.5m

Chelsea have officially signed Caleb Wiley the promising US-born left-back from Atlanta United for £8.5 million plus a sell-on clause.

Wiley who was born in 2004 has committed to a six-year contract with the Blues and that too with an option for an additional season extending his stay at Stamford Bridge potentially until 2031.

The transfer may see Wiley join Strasbourg a BlueCo affiliate on loan in the coming weeks to gain European experience.

Wiley’s journey began at Atlanta’s academy at age 11. He progressed through the youth ranks and played for Atlanta United 2 in the USL Championship during the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

His professional debut in 2022 was memorable scoring in a 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City. Wiley made 25 appearances in his debut season and 36 in 2023 cementing his status as a key player.

Additionally, he earned his first USMNT cap in October 2023 against Mexico. Currently, Wiley is in Paris with the US Men’s Soccer Team for the 2024 Olympic Games.
