Burnley defender on Wolves’ radar as Gary O’Neil set to explore options

As per football transfer market expert ‘Fabrizio Romano’, EFL Championship club Burnley’s defender Maxime Esteve is a player ‘to watch out for’ in the ongoing summer transfer window. Romano has inserted that some of the Premier League clubs are exploring a potential transfer for the 22-year-old.

Reports in the English media have laid out that Wolves have inquired about the player with Burnley. Romano has asserted that the Old Gold ‘have asked for conditions’ with the Championship club in order to acquire the services of the player.

Wolves obviously have been linked with few center-back options in this window since the departure of Max Kilman to West Ham United. Borussia Monchengladbach’s Nico Elvedi and Feyenoord’s Thomas Beleen are also tipped to be monitored by the West Midlands-based club.

While it remains to be seen what response the Old Gold get from Burnley, a player like Maxime Esteve could easily fit into Gary O’Neil’s plans at Wolves considering his notable skills on and off the ball and his aerial as well as on-pitch defensive prowess.

He could easily slot alongside someone like Craig Dawson to give Wolves that defensive stability. Also, he has got the pedigree of playing in top-tier English football as he made 16 appearances for Burnley under former manager Vincent Kompany in the 2023-24 Premier League season.
