Man United Record: Bruno Fernandes goes past Dutch star’s tally to achieve latest milestone
Bruno Fernandes is now Manchester United’s all-time penalty scorer. His 29th goal from the spot surpassed Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s 28 pieces of collection in the past. The goal also ended United’s winless streak in the past two Premier League schedules.
Bruno slotted the ball into Jordan Pickford’s net in the 12th minute, thanks to a foul towards Alejandro Garnacho. There are officially no United players who scored more than the Portuguese through penalty since he came to the club.

The former Sporting CP midfielder is also currently sitting as United’s top scorer this season with seven goals three of them come in the league. Bruno is also awarded the Man of the Match award at the end of the game. He has the most votes with 42.4 percent, outvoting Andre Onana (21.8 percent) and Marcus Rashford (11.4 percent).
Apart from his goal, he also produced five key passes and created two big chances, despite none of them being converted to goals. Overall, Bruno has 86.3 percent of completed passes during the match.
United’s all-time goalscorer Wayne Rooney was happy with the result. “United were better in the second half than the first half, there was more control,” Rooney said via TalkSport. “They deserved to win but it wasn’t a great game.”
Bruno Fernandes wants more from his team
Despite snatching a crucial win, United’s journey has not even come close to an end as they are still eight points away from the Champions League zone. After the game, Bruno said that he would not stop fighting for the spot.
“Obviously we know we have to win every game that we have ahead,” he said via BBC. “We know our position in the league and it’s not enough for us. We want to try and get into the spots for the Champions League.
“We know it’s going to be tough but we have to win these games. We have to win every game. We didn’t win against Fulham. That was not good enough. Then we go away to City and we don’t win two games in a row. It gets tough.”
On the other hand, Erik Ten Hag the manager appreciated the result but was not personally satisfied with the way United played.
“We could have scored three or four goals, not just the two penalties,” Ten Hag said after the game. “We defended quite well, we could have been a bit better in the build-up.
“We could have been calmer and more composed on the ball. Everton did well and pressed high which gave us lots of chances in behind.”
