Borussia Dortmund New Signing Out With Knee Injury Until September
According to reports, Borussia Dortmund new signing Serhou Guirassy, will be out of action until at least September due to a knee injury. He sustained the injury while playing for Guinea during the June international break. Initially, there were concerns that the injury might jeopardise his transfer to Dortmund. However, further medical tests revealed that he would not require surgery and would instead follow a recovery plan.
The 28-year-old player is expected to miss Dortmund’s first three competitive matches. These include a DFB Pokal game against 1.FC Phonix Lubeck and Bundesliga fixtures against Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen. His debut is currently anticipated to be on September 13th against Heidenheim.
Dortmund is dealing with a crowded striker situation, as the arrival of Guirassy brings their total to four senior strikers. Additionally, reports suggest that Sebastien Haller might be the one to leave the club this summer. Meanwhile, Niclas Füllkrug remains an important player for Dortmund, and Youssoufa Moukoko is determined to fight for his place in the squad.

Guirassy expected to make Borussia Dortmund attack more lethal
Guirassy made a huge impact last season by scoring 28 Bundesliga goals for VfB Stuttgart, who finished second behind Bayer Leverkusen. While his goal-scoring ability is impressive, Dortmund’s managing director for sport, Lars Ricken, emphasised that Guirassy should not be seen only as a goal-scorer.
His movement on the field causes problems for defenders. The 28-year-old is great at slipping behind the last defender and making sudden changes in direction, confusing his markers with quick feints. In addition to these skills, Guirassy has a strong understanding of the game, often putting him one step ahead of others. His top speed of 33.15 km/h might not be the fastest, but his anticipation, awareness, and quick acceleration over short distances give him an edge.
His movements are smart and well-timed. He was also flagged offside only 17 times last season. Guirassy often runs parallel to the defence before suddenly breaking through. Dortmund also has players like Nico Schlotterbeck, Marcel Sabitzer, and Julian Brandt, who can make accurate, decisive passes from deep positions.
