Bayern’s wonderkid Aleksandar Pavlovic might be the answer to Germany’s midfield woes ahead of Euro 2024!
Julian Nagelsmann might be in luck, as the emergence of Aleksandar Pavlovic might be the answer to Germany’s midfield woes ahead of Euro 2024! The 19-year-old midfielder has become a regular feature for Bayern Munich and is earning calls to be selected for the national team.
Shining bright in a team full of stars
Bayern Munich certainly isn’t a club which lacks star individuals. To stand out among these well established players takes a lot of brilliance. Yet, Aleksandar Pavlovic has managed to shine bright. Recently, the German club has struggled with injuries and Thomas Tuchel has trusted the youngster with the reins of the midfield. The Bayern academy graduate has already registered 2 goals and 2 assists in the midfield in just 9 appearances.
Legend Thomas Müller has spoken highly of Aleksandar, and it seems that Müller has decided to mentor the Bavarian himself. The German’s ability has also impressed England and Bayern Munich’s striker, Harry Kane. Despite just starting a few games, Pavlovic has already drawn comparisons with Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham! An enormous achievement in itself. Bayern and Tuchel seem sure of Pavlovic’s ability, too, as he was offered a long term deal in November till 2027. Nagelsmann, ball’s in your court now!

Aleksandar Pavlovic: Nagelsmann’s Euro 2024 Trump Card?
It is no secret that Germany has struggled to fix their broken side post the 2018 World Cup. After a poor run in Euro 2020 and a group stage exit in the 2022 World Cup, Germany need change. Since his takeover, Julian Nagelsmann has attempted to facilitate change.
The German manager’s footballing philosophy requires a midfield which presses high and constantly attacks the opposition’s goal. The gaffer has tried several variations in the midfield, yet success has eluded him. The likes of Goretzka, veteran Gündoğan, Bayern’s 6 Joshua Kimimich have performed well but continue to be stylistic misfits.
However, Aleksandar Pavlovic’s recent run of games for Bayern have revealed perhaps the exact profile Nagelsmann has been looking for. The Bavarian is a creative workhorse who looks to pair his attacking instincts with his excellent ability to press the opponent to win possession. A perfect match for a system starved of energy.
As Germany runs out of time to re-energize their midfield, Aleksandar Pavlovic could be Germany’s trump card for Euro 2024.
