Barcelona end interest in long-term target Joao Cancelo

Barcelona has ended their interest in Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo has been linked with a move to Al Hilal in the summer transfer window. Cancelo spent the last season on loan at Barcelona and wanted to sign him on a permanent deal this summer.

The Portuguese defender openly expressed his desire to return to Camp Nou but Barcelona are struggling to meet City’s asking price due to their financial constraints. According to Fabrizio Romano, Al Hilal is a more financially appealing move for the 30-year-old defender.

With his contract expiring in 2027, City are willing to gain around €25 million for the Portuguese defender.
