Atletico Madrid 5-0 Getafe Player Ratings: Five-Star Atletico thump Getafe at home to book a place in the semi-finals

Atletico Madrid advanced into the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey after a comfortable 3-0 win, thanks to goals from Simeone and Lino. The next-round matches are yet to be determined. The fairy tale run for Getafe ends tonight, who wanted to salvage something after a disappointing league campaign so far?

The hosts did not take too long, as Giuliano Simeone comfortably heads the ball into the corner of the net, thanks to a pin-point cross from Javi Galan. They quickly double the lead too as Simeone again has an excellent right-footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner. The third goal arrived close to the end of the first half as  Samuel Lino took a right-footed shot from the left side of the box to the bottom right corner.

There was a lot less action initially in the second half, as Atletico looked more to control the lead rather than go all-out on the front foot while Getafe on the other hand desperately tried to pull one back. Both teams started to make substitutions to bring on fresh legs yet the hosts retained their dominance.

The fourth goal of the night was in the 78th minute as substitute Ángel Correa took an attempt from outside the box which beat the keeper into the back of the net. The pain did not end for the visitors when Sorloth added a fifth one, as he took a right-footed shot from the centre of the box into the bottom right corner.
