Atletico Madrid defender Caglar Soyuncu, who is currently on loan at Fenerbahce, has faced a major injury setback. An injury has unfortunately ruled him out of the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany.
Big Blow for Atletico Madrid as Caglar Soyuncu Injury Forces Him to Miss Euro 2024
Soyuncu made the move to Atletico Madrid from Leicester City last summer. He struggled for playing time under coach Diego Simeone, with just 200 minutes on the field.
Seeking a spot in Turkey’s squad for Euro 2024 he opted for a loan spell at Fenerbahce. Despite making it into the team, a recent injury has shattered his aspirations.
During Fenerbahce’s game against Istanbulspor, Soyuncu suffered a muscle tear, as reported by Diario AS. This setback will see him sidelined for three weeks forcing him to sit out of the European Championship. Thus, Atletico Madrid will miss football action for the month of June.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) confirmed Soyuncu’s withdrawal from the national team roster. His absence poses a challenge to Turkey’s defense strategy and thus, they now need to make some adjustments accordingly.
