Aston Villa Eyeing a move for Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix – Report
Premier League club Aston Villa are reportedly eyeing a move for Atletico Madrid’s Portugal international forward Joao Felix. As per ‘GiveMeSport’, the Midlands-based club is dwelling on the thought of offering the 24-year-old a potential ‘route out of’ La Liga and Atletico.
Aston Villa surprised everyone by their impressive performance in the 2023-2024 Premier League season. They secured the UEFA Champions League qualification under Unai Emery by finishing fourth on the standings table.
A player like Joao Felix could really bolster their attacking ranks. Also as they will be participating in Europe this time around alongside Premier League as well, squad depth will be needed by Unai Emery to deliver consistent performances.
Joao Felix’s current contract at Atletico Madrid runs till June 2029. So, if Villa pursues their interest in the player, some particular negotiations may be involved to get him back in the Premier League. In the 2023-2024 La Liga season, the 24-year-old played 30 matches for Atletico.
In these outings, he managed a respective tally of 10 goal contributions (seven goals and three assists). Apart from playing as a second striker, Joao Felix can also play as a left-winger and a center-forward. A player of his profile will also provide versatility in on-field positions to Aston Villa’s hierarchy. Felix has also played in the UCL in his career.
