Aston Villa agree to let Moussa Diaby go after one season
Moussa Diaby was one of the reasons why Aston Villa secured the Champions League spot after years. However, the honeymoon between the French guy and the Birmingham-based side could only last for one season.
Multiple rumours said that Diaby has agreed to the offer from Al-Ittihad to send him to Saudi Arabia starting from next season. He will join another infamous figure from France, Karim Benzema.
The transfer is expected to be finalised within days
Diaby appeared in 54 games for Aston Villa and scored 10 goals across the competitions. Apart from Al-Ittihad, some Premier League clubs like Newcastle United and Arsenal are reportedly interested in him as well. However, it appears that the Saudi side won the race.
The full deal is expected to be finalised within days as Diaby is completing administration procedures to seal the deal. The 25-year old is part of Al-Ittihad ambitious transfer plan this summer.
Apart from him, the likes of Casemiro from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos are also on the list. It is not stopping there as Laurent Blanc is reportedly looking to fill the vacated position which was left by Marcelo Gallardo last season.
This French connection is expected to fix the polluted air within the club after Gallardo openly expressed his unhappiness with Benzema, leading to his departure from the club.
