Arsenal bound Riccardo Calafiori was not called up to the Bologna squad

Arsenal-bound Riccardo Calafiori hasn’t been called up to the Bologna squad for their pre-season. Bologna has agreed a 40 million Euros plus five million Euros in add-ons deal with the Gunners. Calafiori is expected to join the Premier League giants this summer.

However, Calafiori’s former club Basel, who sold them to Bologna in 2023, wants 50% of the transfer fee. Basel and Bologna are yet to agreed on a deal, delaying the Italy international’s imminent move to the Emirates. Calafiori hasn’t been called up to Bologna’s pre-season squad amid that.

The defender helped Bologna secure qualification for this season’s Champions League and was also impressive during Euro 2024 run, where he bagged an assist against Croatia. Calafiori missed the round of 16 clash against Switzerland due to suspension.
