‘He’s got everything’: Premier League striker heaps plaudits on Manchester City star
Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo has expressed his admiration for Manchester City star Erling Haaland. The Norwegian clinched his second consecutive Golden Boot last season, netting 27 goals in 31 games.
Since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, the 24-year-old Norwegian has been sensational in England. Haaland scored 36 goals in his debut season, setting a new record for the most goals in a single season in the league. He also achieved seven hat-tricks in his first season with Manchester City, five of which were in the Premier League.

Remarkably, Haaland became the first player to score hat-tricks in three consecutive home games and the fastest to net three hat-tricks. He also broke the record for the quickest player to score 50 goals in England, previously held by Andy Cole.
During his first season, the ex-Borussia Dortmund striker helped Manchester City win the treble: the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League. He was honoured with the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award. Despite missing nearly two months due to injury, Haaland played a crucial role in City’s successful defence of their Premier League title last season.
Antoine Semenyo in awe of Erling Haaland’s talent
Semenyo, who netted eight goals in 36 appearances for Bournemouth across all competitions last season, recently praised Haaland’s abilities. He remarked that even when tightly marked by defenders, the Norwegian remains unstoppable.
Speaking via Earn Your Stripes, Semenyo said, “That man (Haaland) is tall…strong, fast, he can finish. He’s got everything you need as a striker. The aura he has…if he’s on the pitch and if you don’t mark him…he’s gonna score. Everyone’s trying to mark him and even if you mark him, he still scores. I remember watching him…this is the kind of striker I want to be.”
The Norwegian also joined Harry Kane in the exclusive group of players who have scored against every Premier League team they have encountered. He reached this milestone after netting a goal against Brentford in February 2024.
